Beavers Bend Depot and Trail Rides
Tucked inside Beavers Bend State Park, the Depot is one of Hochatown's must-do family experiences. Climb aboard a 1/3-scale replica of the historic C.P. Huntington train from 1863 and wind through towering pines and the Ouachita Mountains on a scenic ride that departs every 30 minutes. Keep your eyes open for deer, squirrels, and birds along the way — and keep your ears open for Loco Joe, the train conductor who keeps kids (and adults) entertained the whole ride.
For something more adventurous, saddle up for a guided horseback trail ride through the forest. Rides are approximately 45 minutes and cover miles of scenic terrain with views of native wildlife. Little ones under 5 can ride along with an adult, and pony rides are available for the youngest visitors.
The Depot also has a gift shop and concession area with snacks, ice cream, cotton candy, and more — making it easy to turn one activity into a full morning or afternoon.
